1. My oncologist has put Martha’s mind at ease about reconstruction.
2. New, super soft flannel sheets.
3. Beanie finally finishing her grad school applications. I didn’t think it was possible, but the process (and expense) was worse than undergrad. I am so glad that stress is over. And now we wait.
4. Finally celebrating Christmas with my sister. I started the holidays in November celebrating Hanukkah with her family. And this weekend we finished the last of our xmas celebrating by visiting with her again.
5. The lovely calm in the house now that the girls have returned to college after being home for 5 weeks. Aaaaahhhh.
It must put your mind at ease to have Martha on board with your decision. When is the surgery? I will raise prayers.
ReplyDeleteJanuary 30th, I don't know what time yet. And I will take all the prayers I can get, thanks
DeleteYou're going to need those flannels with this storm coming.
ReplyDeleteStay safe and warm in your calm, aaaahhhh home.
We are cold here, but we missed the snow. Good luck with that : )
DeleteI'm glad that things are feeling serene at Chez Planner. And, how much easier it will be to have Martha pulling with you rather than against you. Whew!
ReplyDeleteI used to love flannel sheets in the winter. Now, what with the thermo-regulatory issues that two middle-aged women have, flannel is out of the question. We have a fan going year round (of course, it is the PNW, so not nearly as cold), we have one super skinny cotton blanket and one thin fleece blanket. And half the time we are throwing those off. Sigh.
Well, she isn't exactly in favor of the surgery - she is just not AS against.
DeleteI am laughing. Martha is still a furnace and I have waves of night sweats on steroids. We are used to the blankies on/ blankies off routine. Still, I sleep with a window slighty open so the room temp is cold and the flannel is soooo soft.
All of this ends. :) And you go back to normal regulatory issues.
DeleteIs it okay to ask what your oncologist said to put Martha at ease?
ReplyDeleteBasically Martha was afraid that the implants would mask any future tumors. The doctor has promised to do yearly chest MRIs which has made her feel better. She still thinks the surgery is unnecessary but is supporting my decision.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I need to look into this myself.
DeleteCheers for minds at ease, flannel sheets, application completions, a general ohm...calm.
ReplyDeleteWe are going through the grad school apps as well - you are right - it is way worse than undergrad!
ReplyDeleteThe quiet is good - but I miss it - at least until it comes back and the house is a mess...
Hope all goes well with the surgery!
I can identify with a quiet house--the upside of kids growing up.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you can be comfortable about your decision--you and Martha sound like a sweet couple
Kind of cold , eh?
Love
