Full of Grace

1.  My Highway Department.  25 inches of snow fell from Thursday night at 10 am till 6 am Friday morning.  By 9 am, every road was passable.  By noon every road was clean and dry.   They do an amazing job.

2.  Survived my first (awake) tissue expansion.  The first expansion was done during surgery.  This time I had to go to the doctor’s office and have this gigantic needle pushed through the muscle and into the expansion bags buried in my chest and 60 cc of saline inserted.  This is what the needle looked like.

Fortunately it looked a lot worse than it really was.  No worse than a flu shot really.  But then my chest was uncomfortable and sore for the next two days.   I have to do this every week now until my final surgery (April 14th)    I am already pleased with how much better it looks but wow, I will be incredibly grateful when this process is over.

In this picture they look uneven but they really aren't.
Must be the lighting.

3.  Martha got me a table saw for Valentine’s Day!  We never exchange gifts for VD, and I know that a table saw is not a particularly romantic present.  But she actually remembered that I had mentioned that my very old saw was dying a slow and painful death.   So yes, that was pretty damned special to me.

4.  Coupons!

5.  Tax returns filed with a very unexpected refund .  (I hope I did them correctly)

    1. Hey, I don't drink, I don't smoke, I don't do drugs or work long hours to avoid life. One small chocolate addiction. I can live with that.

    1. Thanks Sue. Physically this is a challenge but emotionally I am very happy with my decision.

And it is my pleasure and joy to write these posts.

  3. I just about gasped at the needle. You are a brave girl :-)

25 inches? Wow. I'm complaining about my 14. But not complaining a lot. I am still in semi vacation mode

    Saw away!

    1. I almost left when I first saw that needle! But it really wasn't that bad.

I am a snow lover but even I am getting a bit tired of it. I am ready for Spring.

  4. Ahh.... a new table saw! How awesome is that?!?

Why don't you have Nutella injected into your pouches and a little straw device inserted. Then you'll always have some handy! :-) Kidding, of course. I think you are very brave to voluntarily have any medical procedure done. Looking good, 8!

And, big kudos to your Highway Department! We need them and their equipment out here!

    1. My tea came through my nose I laughed so hard at that! And yet . . . .

The saw is awesome although the garage has been too cold to play with it. : (

  5. Heck yeah your highway department rocks. We haven't gotten that much snow (during a single event) and ours isn't nearly as efficient. Kudos to them.

I'm so pleased to read your progress is so positive.

    1. I am beginning to think that this is why New York State taxes are so high. People and businesses are leaving by the droves and public schools are suffering but we have mountains of plows and salt and sand.

  6. Pretty sure we got exactly the same amount of snow. So. Much. Snow. I had to ask my neighbor (who as a jeep) to switch parking spaces until this is over. My poor little car just couldn't get in and out of the space! And it's snowing. Again. Still. Again. (Our taxes are high too. I'm sure part of it is snow removal.)

I'm glad that the expansions are going well and aren't too horrible. Already you can see a difference. I'm excited for you.

Also, you are an inspiration for me. I know that when I get around to doing the surgery I need, I will be thinking of your example and holding tight to the emotional happiness. :)

Yay for a table saw! So cool. Well done Martha.
