Full of Grace

  • Sending in our deposit for a family vacation at the beach.

  • Dropping my phone and watching it fall, in slow motion, and NOTHING broke!

  • A dear friend who has been diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer has been accepted into a promising clinical trial program with the Mayo Clinic.   Unfortunately she will not know if she will be part of the actual medicated group or the placebo group, which sucks, but it has given her hope.  And hope is a powerful medicine.

  • Peachie has been accepted into the graduate program of her choice.  Which means she will also be coming home to live for 2 years.  Grateful for the first part.  A little eye twitch is developing about the second : )

  • Choosing the next mountain to climb.  Literally.  It feels so good to finally feel good enough to plan another backtracking trip.  Training has begun.

    1. v-a-c-a-t-i-o-n. Even more special because it is getting harder and harder to get everyone together at the same time. And feeling very blessed that our kids still want to vacation with us.

  2. These are all good things. My best hopes for your friend. I'm glad she was accepted to the clinical trial. Everything (fingers, toes, eyes) crossed that it goes in the very best possible way for her.

Glad you're feeling goo enough to go backpacking and begin training.

You never see people in master's programs. They live at libraries. (Also true for people who teach master's programs ... I have this ex ... ) Congrats to Peachie!

    Yay for vaca!

    1. You are dating yourself e&i. My oldest daughter, who has to do a lot of research, never goes to the library. Everything is done on the computer and when she is looking for something she can't find - she emails an on-line librarian who does a literature search for her and emails her the articles. It is a different world.

    2. What's the fun in that? I never dreamed I'd feel sorry for younger people, but I do. At one of my schools, the library was a social hub for crazy, focused, grade-driven people. Ah well.

    3. You get no argument from me. I do think "social" media is making us more isolated. I don't even have a FaceBook page : )

  3. The ability to comment is back! Double yay!

  4. How lovely all around. And I want Liv to stay in our city and go to college so badly, but have resigned myself to the fact that it is best if she doesn't...she can achieve a better education elsewhere. But...ugh...thinking about her not living under our roof almost makes me shudder.

    1. I wanted our kids to go away - just for the experience of living with other people which is an education in itself. In fact, I encouraged them NOT to go to state schools so they could meet more people from others states. That worked out great, but now they are VERY independent which makes it more difficult for them to fit back into our routines and preferences. But they have to pay for graduate school themselves so now finances play a big part in their decisions . . and home is the cheapest : 0

  6. Buried and beat does not sound very good : (

The kitchen is essentially done but now the eating area needs work - and Martha thinks new furniture. Oy! It is never ending . . .

Morning are heavenly - it has been sunny and the Spring birds have returned and are singing some very happy songs. And I can work to work again which always sets a good tone for me. It's all good!

  7. I love these posts so much! Thank you for persevering with them. It's a good reminder to me to look for the positives in my life. Even when things are going to hell in a hand basket.

Btw, we have some mountains in my neck of the woods... in case you and ren ever want to sample the Cascades. :-)
