1. I finally found Ben & Jerry’s “Hazed and Confused” ice cream and didn’t like it. It is not real Nutella in the middle. Why am I thankful I didn’t like it? Because if I did, I would be 500 pounds by summer.
2. Yoga props. My class has ended but I am trying to maintain my practice at home. But in order to do most of the poses I need props. A lot of props. Under my knees. Under my butt. A strap to reach my toes. Yes, I am very thankful for props. And Ibuprofen.
3. Beaner arrived home safely from her Spring break in the Bahamas. (You just never know with that party girl.)
4. And she was accepted to every grad school she applied to. Yay! Now she must make the hard decision. I really don’t care which, except I am hoping it’s not North Carolina. That is becoming one scary conservative state and I felt very uncomfortable just driving through last year.
5. Maple sugar. We went to a maple sugar shack to watch the amazing process of turning sap into syrup. And the all you could eat pancake breakfast was a great excuse to soak up all that maple butter and syrup.
They don't actually use buckets to collect sap anymore. The whole maple forest is strung with these blue tubes which all pump into the sap shack. |
And for the record, this is where I live, taken March 23rd. C'mon Spring! |
Congratulations to Beaner. And beyond that I'm lost in the all the pancakes you can eat . . .
ReplyDeleteYes, but just because they say it's all you can eat, doesn't mean you should eat all you can eat.
DeleteAsk me how I know this : )
Which, by the way, beats the snow on the ground. Last night's forecast for today: thunder snow. And yes, there is snow on the ground now. Spring, a distant memory?
ReplyDeleteThunder snow? Are they making up new terms for this interminable winter weather?
DeleteNo, it's really a thing - when you get thunder while it's snowing. Unusual, but extremely awesome.
DeleteAlthough I'm sure many people have come up with a lot of unprintable terms for this year's winter : )
I am the most unbendable person so I would need SO many props... Congrats on grad school! Ours is freaking out while looking for jobs - rejection is not an easy pill to swallow. I was okay with the cold until it was warm for a few days - now I am over it...
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Beaner would be freaking out if she had to get a job, too. Grad school will postpone the anxiety for a couple of years.
DeleteI know - those warm teasers days are a killer when it gets cold again.
oh god, 8, you have more snow than i do. i hope it all melts. after tomorrow's storm, which should miss both of us, things are looking up.
ReplyDeletecongratulations to your beaner. asheville is in north carolina, yes? that would be one exception to the state.
good for you and yoga. i just joined the y. i am hopeful i am motivated. :^)
love

There are a lot of places where the sun shines that I can see grass. But still lots and lots of snow hanging on. The forecast is for warmer weather by Thursday. Fingers crossed.
DeleteYes, I hear Asheville is nice - like our Woodstock or Ithaca. But unfortunately that would not be the school and really, the rest of that state scares me. Still, I am staying out of it. She is paying for this next round of school, so it is her decision.
I go to the Y also. Just the price alone is enough to motivate me : )
Beanie going to grad school? It seems impossible that so many years have past. I hope Boston is on her list. Great schools and no rednecks.
ReplyDeletePancakes and snow go great together . . . in winter. I'm with you - c'mon Spring.
Boston IS one of her choices, but so damned expensive to live there. I wouldn't mind going there to visit though - great Italian bakeries : )
Delete1. Thank goodness you don't like it! The nutella is enough...
ReplyDelete2. Yoga props... me too, on the rare occasion that I actually go to a class.
3. Some spring break destinations are scary for the parents. Glad she was safe.
4. Any schools in the PNW on her list? That could be great!!!
5. I'm not much of a pancake fan but maple syrup? Double Yum! And, just so cool that it's tree sap!
And, I'm so sorry for all of you who are still suffering from this rude weather! Enough, already!
Nothing in the PNW : ( It would be great to have an excuse to be on your coast every now and then.
DeleteThe top school for the strange combination of studies she wants is actually right in our backyard. I don't think she relishes the idea of living home for a couple of years, but now that she has to pay, I think she is seeing the logic of not having housing costs. Funny how when I was paying, these things never entered her mind : )
These are lovely. (And around here, lots of people still use buckets for maple syrup collection.)
ReplyDeleteGlad the Beaner is home safe and sound.
Glad you didn't like the Ben & Jerry's flavor. Now I feel less pushed to try it.
