Full of Grace

Going through some older photos I remembered how much these things delighted me:

Hiking this summer with  my daughter we came across this in the middle of nowhere

It still makes me smile . . .  in a weird way

This plant popped up in my flower garden.

I didn’t plant it. It just appeared this year and gave me bountiful flowers all summer

Accidentally stumbling into this bookstore.

It was like walking into a treasure chest of old books

And lastly, this bear that was recently spotted wandering through our suburban town.

Nobody got crazy and wanted to shoot it. Everyone was just fascinated and enjoyed the sightings as it made its way peacefully through.

  1. The flower looks like Helianthus annuus or another species of wild sunflower. How lucky to have something so beautiful volunteer in your yard!
Love that the bear was allowed to mosey through. In too many places, it would have been shot dead. Yay for your suburban town!
Great pictures, 8. Thanks for sharing them... :-)

    1. Do you think the plant it will come back? It was a little big for the spot it "volunteered", can it be safely relocated?

    1. I have seen many black bears in the Adirondacks and worry that our changing climate is forcing them out into more populated areas. Hopefully this guy made it to another wilderness.

    1. I was very concerned when it was spotted near an elementary school but they just went into lock down until the bear passed through. He became a great educational moment.

  4. I really love hearing of (and seeing) all the gifts you received recently, but the stump/chair was my favorite. It made me laugh.

    1. Me too! I think there must be a great story in there somewhere. I only wish I had seen this before I had some white pines, and their stumps, removed from my yard. What a great idea for outdoor seating!

  5. I love the chair - what a clever idea... To think we were all over Alaska looking for wildlife and he strolls through your town... I love it when random plants pop up in various places. I hope we haven't messed up the planet too much - the leaves are still on the trees and not turning colors.

    1. Most of our leaves turned, although many from some fungus they got because of the unusually wet summer. Now they are very late in falling due to the unusually warm fall. I think we if we don't do something soon it will too late to turn this climate change around.

  6. Hello my friend, I love all these photos. Who put that half chair there?! Clever and sweet!

It's nice to see all is well with you. Same here. Big sigh of relief and big breath of gratitude.

    1. You could take your grandchildren to see this chair. It was in the Middlesex Falls reservation, not too far from them.
