Full of Grace

I’ve never had a lap cat and now I have two!  They are snuggled on me all the time. No matter how crazy the world is outside my home, this grounds me and makes me giddy happy. Although it is hard to get anything productive accomplished.

A new pair of high top, leather hiking boots. I am loathe to ever give up a pair of comfortable hikers, but my last pair went through a mud soaked hike and were so worn that I could feel even small stones through the soles. I am just breaking these in but have a good feeling about them.

Of course, I realized that they are great for the Adirondack trails I am used to, but my next hike will be in the red rocks of dry, hot Sedona. So I bought a pair of low, breathable hikers.  Then I read about rattlesnakes in April so I think I will bring the high tops too.

My daughter sent me this picture from a Greek grocery where she lives. And then brought me all three to taste test.  Yes, Merenda is very good, but does not beat Nutella.  Still, to be fair, I am giving them all a chance, every night, by the large spoonful.

Flowers on the left. Veggies on the right.  I love planting from seed and anticipating Spring.  In my zone, we shouldn’t plant outside until Mother’s Day but I am too impatient and start on May 1st.

Just 8 more weeks!

    1. I am so over the top loving them! They are a much needed balance to the fear and hate mongering out there.

    1. I start growing seedlings in the basements in February. It makes the winter that much more pleasant, not to mention how much money it saves me. And I love the idea of reseeding heirloom plants into the future.

  3. Kitties look so cute! We are getting so much rain - we need duck boots! Have you tried Justin's hazelnut spread? We love their almond butter - haven't tried the hazelnut yet... peanut butter cups are pretty darn tasty! You have quite a crop growing! Looking good!

    1. Justin's? Like I need yet another jar of scrumptious calories? But of course, now I will have to try it. Actually my favorite is the Nutella one can get in Italy which is different, and so much better, than what we get here. Fortunately I have a friend who brings me some two or three times a year. And I wonder why I don't lose weight : )

    1. I hope you will share your plans!

I feel like I have to visit some National Parks before they are filled with oil and uranium rigs. Arrrgggghhhh!

  5. Oh, my gosh, two lap cats at once! How do you ever stand up??? Lol.
I love both of your new boots. Those red high tops are snazzy! Also, I lived in Arizona for 5 years and the breathable low toppers are just fine. Snakes want to stay away from you, so just tromp around like a heavy footed human and they will slither out of your way.
So. Your daughter is a Nutella enabler? Good for her!
Love, love, love the seedlings. Yes, we have spring flowers here in the PNW, but it snowed on Monday so... yeah. It's so hopeful and encouraging to see a flat of seedlings. I love that.
    Thanks for the update, 8!

    1. Standing up IS a problem! As is doing anything on the computer. Well, you know us retirees - just sit around petting cats all day.

Good to know about the snakes. I will be holding you to that.

We had one amazing weekend of 70 degrees and everything started to bud. Then back to freezing and next week a possible 2 foot snow fall. We are hoping that the budding plants will not be too damaged.

As you have said - the weather is broken.

  7. Short-haired grey tabbies are the prettiest cats, in my book.

I am so eager to get things in the ground and we're having a little cold snap. Our average last frost-date is April 15th.
