Full of Grace

  • Being able to eat all my meals outside. I love breakfast with the early birds. And we bought this gazebo thing for the lake so now, even if it's raining, I can still eat outside.  Glorious.

  • The traditional ‘first day of summer’ sweet, totally refreshing, root beer float.  Yum.

  • The sound of thunder echoing around a mountain lake.   Humbling.

  • Juicy summer fruit dripping down my chin.  Heavenly.

  • And extremely grateful for the hard work of local law enforcement who successfully dealt with the escaped prison convicts (and without anyone else getting hurt) so that I and others can once again return to, and enjoy our beloved Adirondack mountains.    Brava!

  1. Thank you for your good thoughts. I was just sitting here thinking how much I detest July. It is my least favorite month because it is so god awful hot. And then...I read your post and thought to myself of cold Winter days and how well the garden is doing.....

    1. We do that too - we find ourselves complaining about the heat or rain and then quickly remember the past frigid, snowy winter.

But if you're complaining about the heat in the mid-west, how are you going to survive Louisiana???

  2. This is the second time in as many weeks I've read reference to root beer floats. I have yet to have one, a situation I intend to remedy before the end of the season.

Prison escapes and the all that THAT entails, so scary. So glad to see that situation come to an end.

  3. We got a new picnic table this summer for the deck and it's made dinner even better! So great to be able to eat outside.

Glad that the escapees have been dealt with; I didn't even realize that they were in your neck of the woods. Yikes.

Thank you for continuing to post these - they are a weekly inspiration and I would miss them if you stopped.

    1. Although our lake house is about 140 miles from the prison, it was still is disconcerting to be out there in the woods when reports were all saying they had no idea where the escapees were. However, most of my hiking is in the high peaks area which was discouraged and then banned as the search intensified. So glad it's over.

    1. My peaches are only the size of golf balls and I am watching the squirrels cart them away. I am hoping they leave me some. Any advice?

I assume the organizing is getting ready for the big move? I don't envy you. But the finish line looks so enticing . . .

  5. That does sound wonderful, especially eating outside under a cover while it rains.

    1. Being outside in a driving rain and not getting wet while sipping tea is an amazing thing : )

  6. I'm glad the convicts are no longer out and about and especially glad I didn't have many details about what, precisely, they'd done until after the fact.

I was woken up yesterday at 5 or so in the morning by thunder loud and crazy and was happy to be snug inside and listening to the show. It was wondrous.
