Full of Grace

Two weeks of R & R after surgery.   I admit to being a total slug and enjoying it immensely.

The steri-strips have finally come off.  Wow, those things are itchy. Major relief.

Meeting Beaner’s new love interest who far out shines all who came before him. Or as her sister said “she is finally growing out of her shallow ‘must have 6 pack abs and dark hair’ to even be considered.”  Here’s hoping.

Removing my daughters from my family gym membership for a huge savings. Ever so slowly they are taking over their own bills and will gradually be out of my wallet.

I just watched the movie 11.22.63 based on the book by Stephen King.  Well, I sort of watched it. It was extremely violent so I often left the room.  But this poem ended the movie and I was quite moved by it.

We did not ask for this room or this music
We were invited in
Therefore, because the dark surrounds us,
Let us turn our faces to the light
Let us endure hardship to be grateful for plenty.

We have been given pain to be astounded by joy
We have been given life to deny death
We did not ask for this room or this music
But because we are here, . .

Let us dance

-  Stephen King

Today I am grateful for plenty.

  1. Wow, I'm quite surprised, I stay far, far away from anything having to do with Stephen King. I have enough demons in my head and horrors to worry about without reading any invented ones, so this was quite surprising. Thanks for opening my eyes to something beautiful that I had previously written off in its entirety.

I hope you're going to get to enjoy some of this fall weather before it gets really cold.

    1. The movie was FAR more violent than anything I can tolerate, but I too was surprised by the poem, which I understand was not included in the book. One can only wonder where it came from and why . . .

We are having a spectacular autumn! Snow predicted for later this week though.

  2. I'm so glad to hear that your recuperation is going well. R&R is a necessity for healing, it's not being a slug!
Also glad to hear about the boyfriend upgrade. Big sigh of relief!
Like Kalisis, I don't need extra demons in my head and don't read or watch Mr King. But, I love the poem. Thank you for sharing it. :^)
Lots more wet weather heading your way. We're drenched!

Re: 11.22.63 the book is easier & very different from most Stephen King stuff.

  6. I read the book but it was not that great. I like others of his better. That poem is lovely though. He's quite a prolific writer.

    Glad you're feeling better.

  7. I have not even been surfing the web, life has been so busy - but glad you have been relaxing. We are in the same place - 4 of the 5 are moving in their own spaces, paying most of their ways... It is a different place and dynamic - but we seem to spend more on the Grandkids - which is so much more fun... They just melt your heart.
