Full of Grace

Pain free pee.  I had the first UTI of my life, and wow, it was like peeing razor blades.  But after only two days on antibiotics, I was pain free again.  I will never take peeing for granted again.

The one day, "easy to install" kitchen floor which took us WEEKS to install is finally done. I don't think I've ever cursed as much or been so frustrated as I was doing this floor.   Nothing just "clicked" together. Every piece had to be muscled in. My hands are all banged up and my knees are swollen and sore. But I am happy with the result.  And very happy that its done.

My car inspection was over due. By a few months. Oops!  So grateful I noticed before any cops did. Especially the one I live with.  She would never let me hear the end of it.

The ultrasound of my ovaries and uterus was all clear.   I have a high percentage of cancer recurrence and the most common recurrence is ovarian or uterine.   So this was very good news.

  1. Glad you are feeling better. The floor looks great! Which type did you get? Let me know how you like it.
Great news on the clear ultrasound!

    1. It is a 12mm laminate floor. I love the look and the color but it already chipped when we dropped a tool on it. It is guaranteed for 30 years but there's no way I am going to take it apart to replace the chipped piece. I am just going to put a little stain on it. If I had it do do again I would go with a hard wood, tongue and groove floor. Or maybe have a professional install it. They probably know all the tricks. This one was not for sissies : )

  2. First things first: I'm sending a message of gratitude to the universe that your ultrasound was all clear. xoxox

Your first UTI? Ever? I don't how you escaped so long, but yes to the power of antibiotics! If you ever have a flare up (and I hope you don't) remember that natural cranberry juice is your bladder and ureters friend.
    The floor looks fantastic!
The car inspection: whew! We don't have inspections, but we do have smog checks. Maybe it's the same thing. Don't tell Martha, but my car was out of registration for over a year! Gasp! It finally passed the smog check, $300 later, and I was able to register it.

    1. Thanks, I'm pretty happy too.

Yes, my first UTI. But now I think I know why - I how have a kidney stone which I think an cause them. I have never been able to pass a stone and always had to have surgery to blast it. This is just not a good time of year for this.

No car inspections? How do you now if your brakes are wearing out or your anti-freeze needs replacing? Police here can just bounce a beam off your license plate and get registration, inspection and insurance info. I am considering myself very lucky.

  3. I am right there with you on that ultrasound. Thankful, thankful.

I'll echo e and say not only natural cranberry juice, but unsweetened natural cranberry juice. It's ridiculously expensive and you will curse both e and I when you drink it. But it's a friend for sure.

My inspection was 2 days late, but I blame Thanksgiving. Luckily there is an inspection station down the hill and I went there pronto. It's such a weird thing.

Can I just say that that floor is gor-ge-ous. I mean, beautiful. Love the colour, love everything about it. So pretty. Well done.

    1. I guess this is what happens when you miss the cranberry sauce at Thanksgiving : )

Thanks for the floor compliments. Today they are installing the counter top and then we will do the back splash and trim work. And then maybe I'll have time to enjoy the holiday.

  4. There is NOTHING better than NOT hearing back from your doctor, yes? And yes...I've had 2 UTIs and both times, it was agony. One was SO bad that I actually had to wear a Depends to bed because I kept um....dribbling! That was humbling. And I learned a trick, if you sit in a bath of hot water, it is much less painful to pee...just saying.

  5. I had to pee every 5 minutes. And then 3 drops. I don't think I would have had time to draw a bath. Thankfully I am over it.
