Full of Grace

1.  After only two weeks, I can sleep on my stomach.  It takes a little gentle maneuvering to get to that position, but I am one happy sleeper.

2. The pathology on my back tumor came back as benign.  That was expected but it is always a relief to know for sure.

3.  I received the hospital bills for my two surgeries which totaled over $18,000!  My out of pocket expense was $150 - a $75 co-pay for each surgery.   And I paid nothing for the 12+ weekly doctor visits for the consult, weekly expansions, and follow up.   I am extremely grateful that I have wonderful health insurance, which I have never paid a dime into and will be covered by my employer for the rest of my life.   It is a luxury I know very few people have.

4.  Babysitting our 16 month old grand niece over night.  Is there is anything more amazing than falling asleep, nuzzling the smell of a freshly bathed baby?

5.  Someone left this for me on my desk.  Oh my.  A very nice way to start the day.

  1. I am so self absorbed. The first thing I thought was 'I want those arms for my own' . Ha! Not likely but still...

So glad you 're doing better and sleeping well. Your health ins coverage is a dinasour--good for you. JB just got her new self employment rate of $850 a month. :-(

    Happy week, 8

    Love

    1. Public servants generally get paid a lot less than the private sector, but we make up for it in the benefits. And from what I see what others are going through now - with no retirement funds or insurance - I think I made the right choice.

$850 a month?!?!?! How can the average person possibly afford that? Our system is very, very broke.

  2. Wonderful news on your pathology report! Like kj, I know few people who have the health insurance benefits that you do but I believe it is now federal law that insurance companies have to pay for breast reconstruction. Still, no cost health insurance is indeed a luxury, and a blessing for you. Sleep and babies and Cate are all icing on the cake.

    1. I am becoming more and more aware of what a blessing my insurance is - although I would prefer not to have to use it. And yes, I have lots and lots of icing on my cake.

  3. Wow! That picture of Cate is ... um ... uh ... sorry lost my train of thought just looking at her!

You sleep on your stomach. Huh. I am very happy for you that you are back in your preferred configuration! It makes all the difference in the world to be able to sleep comfortably.

Treasure that insurance. It's amazing. I hope it covers your partner, as well. What a blessing.
I'm so happy and relieved to hear that the biopsy was negative. Whew! That means that backpacking and bike riding can commence in earnest, right? Well, ease into it, don't hurt yourself trying to get back into shape all at once.

    I'm happy that you're happy...

    1. Martha tells me I sleep like a rotisserie chicken - constantly turning. But my go to position is somewhere between on my side and on my stomach. And I am so happy to be able to get there again.

Alas, my insurance does not cover Martha or the girls as we have no legal ties. And I would have to pay for family coverage. Fortunately, Martha also has decent insurance - and a great dental plan which I don't have.

I am easing, but very anxious, to get strong again.

    1. We are blessed to have some new grand nieces and nephews in our lives right now. It's sort of a preview into grandparent hood.

The arms again??? Personally my mind went to what was happening just outside the picture frame. But then again, I am a little obsessed.

  5. Our son just got done being an extra in Cate's next movie. It is called Carol and it just wrapped up filming in Cincy. He had a blast. We hope he makes at least one of the final cuts.

You are very lucky with the insurance - IDK how anyone older can afford it on their own.

    1. Wow! I have been waiting for this movie. Cate in a lesbian themed movie. Oh be still my heart.

I was a little disappointed that Mia Wasikowska is no longer in the cast but, your son!!! Just wow! Do let me know if he makes the final cut!

I did get to see her live once when she did Streetcar Named Desire in New York. She is a very powerful presence.
